Ireland The Land of Thin Places

People describe thin places differently. Thin Places are where the eternal world and physical world meet. Mystics who write about Celtic Spirituality use the term frequently. Tales are told in Ireland of beings being able to pass back and forth between thin places. The Celtic saying goes, “Heaven and Earth are only three feet apart, but in thin places that distance is even shorter.” ┬áThin places relax us and most often are sacred places. You do not plan a trip to a thin place but most often stumble upon them.

Everyone has their own feeling of what defines a thin place for them.

These are some of my “thin places” in Ireland:

Cliffs of Moher

Cong Wood

Gothic Church, Connemara
